Sandalwood is the herald of spring on the Mersin coast. Sandalwood trees that adorn the maquis with their brick-red branches bloom in early February and generously offer our bees their nectar.

We do not milk sandalwood honey every year, we usually leave it in the hive for our bees, who have just come out of winter, to feed their young. Sandalwood gives life to our bees with its nectar, in order to fall on the highland roads with a stronger colony towards the summit of the Taurus Mountains from the maquis with sandalwood trees at the beginning of April. Our bees become stronger in the years when the sandalwood blossoms well. However, by milking in years when nectar is abundant, we present this delicious flavor that gives strength to our bees to our consumers.

Sandal honey has a slightly bitter taste, although not as much as chestnut honey. Mersin Yoruks have been consuming this honey for years. We think you will love it too.

Since we produce our sandalwood honey in Mersin maquis in areas suitable for organic agriculture and with our hives under control, it is certified organic. This means that it does not contain pesticide residues in any way.
